Environmental Impact of Long Island Replacement Windows

Renewal by Andersen of Long Island Replacement Window & Patio Door Sustainability Standards

This sixth, and final, installment in our series about replacement window standards is all about the environmental impact of Renewal by Andersen replacement windows and the sustainability measures we take in our design and manufacturing process to protect you and the environment we all live in. We know that responsible building and manufacturing is good for our Long Island neighbors, the environment and everyone. Renewal by Andersen is committed to making sure our policies meet or exceed rigorous standards for sourcing building materials, manufacturing home windows and patio doors and delivering high-quality fixtures that help you reduce your carbon footprint as well.

Here’s a brief sustainability policy recap for those of you who aren’t familiar with our brand.

7 Replacement Window & Patio Door Sustainability Standards

Renewal by Andersen (and our parent company, the Andersen Corporation) were the first company among window manufacturers to receive the coveted Green Seal Certification for Environmental Stewardship. When others were still trying to figure out how their business model was impacting the environment, Andersen took the lead, and we continue to strive for excellence in this area.

Homes Pollute More Than Cars

The Environmental Protection Agency reports the average home uses more energy and poses more carbon emissions risks than the average automobile. For this reason, our sustainability policy includes replacement window designs and materials that reduce energy consumption, which thereby reduces harmful emissions, resulting in healthier indoor air for the average homeowner.

Renewal by Andersen Has 100+ Windows & Doors Certified by SCS

SCS is a third-party certification agency that sets science-based standards of excellence. The Andersen/Renewal by Andersen portfolio has almost one hundred home windows and patio doors certified by SCS Global Services to enhance energy-efficiency, improve indoor air quality and reduce harmful impacts on our environment.

Fibrex Window Frames Protect Natural Resources

Renewal by Andersen’s patented Fibrex window frame material used for sash and frames meets SCS standards to protect our natural resources by reclaiming wood fiber from wood window manufacturing and vinyl clad patio door frames. As much as 40% of the material used in the composite is reclaimed wood fiber.

Renewal by Andersen Windows Reduce Landfill Waste

Construction waste contributes to rapidly declining space in our landfills across the nation. Renewal by Andersen of Long Island’s goal is not to create long-term relationships with our customers by replacing home windows every few years but by giving our customers a product that will perform perfectly for decades. We build custom replacement windows to last for as long as you live in your home – durability naturally reduces waste, benefiting our customers, our neighborhood and beyond our little corner of the planet.

Better Window Glass Saves Energy

The Department of Energy estimates that 25-30 percent of annual heating and cooling expense is directly tied to home window performance. Some studies suggest home windows are responsible for up to 40 percent, which is why we build very energy efficient windows and only use Low-E glass solutions that provide higher energy-efficiency performance than other versions of home window glass.

Design and Manufacturing Build In Superior Efficiency

Our state-of-the-art design and manufacturing processes would not provide the highest-quality and performance windows and patio doors without an exceptional installation. That is why we only allow experts trained in our specified window and door installation process to ensure your windows perform to their best potential now, and for years to come. This is why we can offer a superior warranty that includes two full years of installation coverage that covers parts and labor should any window fail due to improper installation. We know our installation crews are often the last contact we have with homeowners face-to-face, but they are an integral part of our mission.
